The origins

Accolade Sky begun in the summer holidays of 2002, when Alex Buckley (Guitar) and Matt Bolton (Drums) asked Matt Hayden (Bass) to form a band, only to be told that Hayden was already starting a group with Ashley Morton (Guitar and Vocals). However, Ash planned to play drums so Alex joined the other two, only for Ash to decide to play guitar, and after one practice and encouragement from Alex, Bolton joined as drummer. The band practiced in this form for about 9 months, with the main influences at this time being the Nu-metal stylings of Korn, System of a Down, RATM and a bit of QOTSA. The initial form of the band can be seen opposite :

Transition...............

However, Matt Hayden became increasingly disillusioned with Accolade Sky and the "creative differences" especially noticeable between him and Alex, and left in about May 2003. Ash briefly left the band to play in a misjudged side project and then went to Malawi for ages, and the band briefly died. Neverthless, Ash realised the error of his ways and started writing a new collection of songs with Alex while the group searched for a new bassist

The "magnficent" Ian

In January 2004, Ian Watson was finally convinced to replace Matt Hayden as bassist for the band, and quickly set about learning the old songs while a new set were written. The main influences by now had become Incubus, A Perfect Circle (cough..) and Silverchair. The band was now set again, and Accolade Sky played their 1st gig in April supporting Signify. The Accolade Sky E.P. was recorded in May, and the band is currently concentrating on writing new material and trying to get gigs.
